Higher cholesterol is generally due to HDL (the good cholesterol) increasing – lowering your chance of heart disease. You may see increased triglyceride counts, but that’s very common in people losing weight. These increases will subside as weight loss normalizes.

Last I posted was about my face gains after the haircut. Am another 2 kilos down since then (in less than 2 weeks). It’s almost like my body only now became fat adapted and started losing fat really quickly. Still far from my target weight (GW: 75 Kilos, CW: 90 kilos, SW: 99 kilos) but got a really pleasant surprise this week!

Option 2: Whole milk, unsweetened yogurt mixed with full-fat sour cream, a few raspberries, chia seeds, and walnuts. “This type of combo requires careful carb- and portion-counting since all yogurts naturally have lactose, which is a carb,” says Stefanski. “Pairing it with a carb-free protein like two eggs can help balance out the macros.”

On average people will lose 1-2 lbs. a week, but that doesn’t mean the scale will drop consistently. Unprocessed and nutritious oils, such as coconut oil, virgin olive oil, and macadamia nut oils are great sources of saturated and unsaturated fat. Avoid harmful processed vegetable oils like cottonseed, sunflower, safflower, soybean and canola oils.

My body has stop craving carbs but my mind wanders during times that I am not busy. So last month, reading any print book size or smaller I HAD to have my glasses. Now I can read pretty well without them. I don’t need them for general web browsing now at all, and a game I was considering quitting playing (Star Trek Online) cause of the font size is now pretty okay, even without glasses.
Around this time, Bernarr Macfadden, an American exponent of physical culture, popularised the use of fasting to restore health. His disciple, the osteopathic physician Hugh Conklin, of Battle Creek, Michigan, began to treat his epilepsy patients by recommending fasting. Conklin conjectured that epileptic seizures were caused when a toxin, secreted from the Peyer’s patches in the intestines, was discharged into the bloodstream. He recommended a fast lasting 18 to 25 days to allow this toxin to dissipate. Conklin probably treated hundreds of epilepsy patients with his “water diet” and boasted of a 90% cure rate in children, falling to 50% in adults. Later analysis of Conklin’s case records showed 20% of his patients achieved freedom from seizures and 50% had some improvement.[10]
Eggs and full-fat milk are excellent protein sources on a plant-based diet. A single egg contains six grams of protein. If you can tolerate dairy, full-fat, grass-fed dairy products provide beneficial fats and protein.

Epilepsy is considered refractory (not yielding to treatment) when two or three anticonvulsant drugs have failed to control it. About 60% of patients will achieve control of their epilepsy with the first drug they use, whereas about 30% do not achieve control with drugs. When drugs fail, other options include epilepsy surgery, vagus nerve stimulation and the ketogenic diet.[7]
In a fasting state, our bodies can break down extra fat that’s stored for the energy it needs. When we’re in ketosis, our body already mimics a fasting state, being that we have little to no glucose in our bloodstream, so we use the fats in our bodies as energy.
Many people find that during the beginning stages of a ketogenic diet they experience intense food cravings. These food cravings are typically for high-sugar foods and tend to really challenge your willpower.
The remaining calories in the keto diet come from protein — about 1 gram (g) per kilogram of body weight, so a 140-pound woman would need about 64 g of protein total. As for carbs: “Every body is different, but most people maintain ketosis with between 20 and 50 g of net carbs per day,” says Mattinson.
