One of the best additions I have had is simple: egg yolk. The egg yolk is full of healthy fats, it adds some frothiness to the beverage (which I like). Normal dietary fat contains mostly long-chain triglycerides (LCT). Medium-chain triglycerides are more ketogenic than LCTs because they generate more ketones per unit of energy when metabolised. “Plenty of people jump right in, thinking all they have to do is cut carbs and increase fat. All of a sudden, they hit a wall and get ‘keto flu.’ They feel tired, lethargic, and experience headaches,” Wittrock says. “The primary reason they get these symptoms is lack of the three primary electrolytes: sodium, potassium, and magnesium. If you are deficient in any of these, you will suffer mentally and physically. This is the single biggest reason people fail on the keto diet.”
Note: If the vegetable you’re looking for is not listed, it’s most likely too high carb and shouldn’t be consumed on a ketogenic diet. Double check by comparing the vegetable with a credited nutritional database to see if it fits in with your daily macros >
I use grass fed butter, (1 tbsp), Dr. Axe Collagen Bone Broth (tasteless) 1 scoop, is about 2 tbsp, 1 to 2 tsp of organic coconut oil, 1/4 tsp of organic ceylon cinnamon, and sometimes but rarely, 1 tbsp cacao powder for a mocha flavor. Pour the hot water out of the heated blender jar, add hot coffee (8 oz for me) and all other ingredients and blend on high for about 15 seconds. Pour hot water out of large coffee mug, and pour in Keto coffee from blender. That should keep your coffee hot, creamy and flavorful. I love it!

If you’re really battling a high-appetite/high-craving day or week, you might want to add more fat especially at breakfast. This will trim your appetite throughout the day and enable you to go longer without cravings and hunger.
Ketones are the fuel source your body is running on when it’s in a state of ketosis. They are produced in the liver when glycogen is depleted and are characterized as a slower burning fuel source when compared to glucose.
And while we only store enough glucose for about 24 hours of energy, fat can be stored in the body to provide months worth of energy, which is why people can survive fasting (10). The amount of fat your body can utilize for energy will depend on your body composition and fat percentage.
I cheat on vacation – If you learn the heuristic, “when I’m away from home, I eat whatever I want,” it’s fine. Just make sure you don’t bring back any tempting sweets with you and go back to your nice, keto-friendly kitchen.
I use a 3-4 cup frothing pitcher and preheat it along with my ceramic pour-over…preheat everything. Then i have a Bamix immersion blender…works so much better than ordinary immersion blenders. My coffee, butter and and MCT oil are all in the pitcher and the im-blender blends it all so beautifully with a sooth foamy top. Just delicious!

Yes. Ketchup, barbecue sauce, and Asian sauces like duck sauce and sweet-and-sour sauce are loaded with sugar. Eating sugar with protein greatly spikes insulin which is exactly what you’re trying to avoid. Mustard is okay. Mayonnaise is also okay if it isn’t made with soy.
On the flip side, others—including some medical experts—believe a well-formulated keto diet is sustainable and meets essential nutrient needs; they also point to increasing research linking the diet to potential health benefits.
When we experience hypoglycemia, as I mentioned before, the brain goes into an emergency response to starvation. In addition to sugar cravings, the adrenals will release cortisol. Cortisol signals the release of stored glucose in the body (glycogen stores) to provide immediate energy.

These are the cofactors that help in developing the machinery to burn fat effectively without draining your body. A good source of B vitamins is nutritional yeast. However, nutritional yeast does not have B5, so you may need to take a B5 supplement.
On average people will lose 1-2 lbs. a week, but that doesn’t mean the scale will drop consistently. Take measurements as well as tracking your weight via scale, as often there can be changes in size but no change on the scale. This ratio is a good way to gauge if something is “keto friendly” or not. Of course there are exceptions, like most vegetables, but this ratio works for just about anything that comes in a package. If it isn’t delivering a whole lot of vitamins and minerals and it doesn’t fit this ratio, it’s probably not a part of a solid keto diet!

But for every lifter who ends up loving this approach, you’ll find another who had a miserable experience and bailed after just a few days. This is a shame, because they probably could have felt great if they had simply had a better plan—or a plan at all.
Making sure vegetables have some fiber in will also usually help. Getting in some good quality fiber from non-starchy vegetables can solve this problem. Though if that’s not enough, usually psyllium husk powder will work or taking a probiotic.
