I started drinking coffee blended with butter and coconut oil for breakfast over a year ago. I loved it. Then about six months ago, I decided I wanted to go even healthier and started making it with match green tea instead of the coffee. I have a slightly sluggish thyroid and thought maybe less caffeine would be beneficial with that. My question is, what type of blender do people use for this? I have gone thru two Nutribullets and recently bought a Ninja blender. In reading the directions for the Ninja, it says in several places not to use hot liquids. In hindsight, I think that is probably why I went thru two Nutribullets in less than a year. Now I am using an immersion blender, but it doesn’t make it very frothy, plus it is messier. Any suggestions? For me, one of the joys of my morning beverage is the hotter the better, so I don’t want to let it cool before blending. Thanks.
My son started the Keto Diet (not perfectly) with the ok of his Dr and a Different Oral Chemo at the same time. Last Tuesday an MRI indicated no new growth or no new tumors. We don’t know if the new Chemo, Keto diet, lots of prays or what has stopped the tumors from growing.I found your site after looking for possible adverse reactions to Keto Diets, and appreciate your research. His platelets are low now and never have been low before. This is stopping the next Chemo treatment. I understand that being on Chemo for 12 months could have created the low platelets and now the possibility that the Keto Diet could also be causing low platelets is frustrating. They will do a new blood test Tuesday to see if the platelets have increased. Any suggestions about how if possible to increase the platelets on the Keto Diet would be helpful.
Sweeteners like stevia, erythritol, and xylitol can be made a part of your keto diet, but try to buy only the pure versions, as the powdered products usually have a small amount of sugar added as a bulking agent.

I’ve made this with any kind of tea for 2 years and still LOVE it! Costco sells Kerrygold butter which is from Ireland and made from grass fed cows. Trader Joe’s sells it too. I add 1/2 tsp each cinnamon and turmeric and stevia and its Devine 🙂
Increase Meal Frequency: Eating every 3-4 hours will ease the hypoglycemic stress on the body. This will equate to 4-5 small meals throughout the day. As you become adapted, fasting for longer periods of time will become much easier.

Counting net carbs is more critical than counting calories on a ketogenic diet, but alcohol is the exception to the rule. Alcohol contains 100 percent empty calories and you can easily drink a meal’s worth of calories without realizing you are over your limit.

I was recommended to use Great Lakes brand gelatin. I usually buy the porcine one since it is colorless – better to use for a variety of cooking as it doesn’t color foods brown. I think they also have beef though. I am curious what Dr. Axe would think of the porcine gelatin since the recipe specifies beef. I get it at a local health food store, but just checked on Vitacost and they have it there, too. Probably Amazon, etc.
This week we’re introducing a slight fast. We’re going to get full on fats in the morning and fast all the way until dinner time. Not only are there a myriad of health benefits to this, it’s also easier on our eating schedule (and cooking schedule). I suggest eating (rather, drinking) your breakfast at 7am and then eating dinner at 7pm. Keeping 12 hours between your 2 meals. This will help put your body into a fasted state.
