Within just a couple days of cutting out carbs and raising fats, ketone concentrations in the blood rise and the brain will begin using them for energy preferentially. This initial keto-adaptation process usually takes about four weeks to complete, at which point you’ll reach peak fat-burning adaptations.
Of the few studies done on keto and gallstones, most people have either improved or cured gallstone problems. The only downside is that many reported an increase in discomfort when starting out on low-carb. If you stick with it, you should notice a vast improvement.
Your keto meals should contain high amounts of healthy fats (up to 80 percent of your total calories!), such as olive oil, coconut oil, grass-fed butter, palm oil, and some nuts and seeds. Another method is by using a blood glucose monitor. The issue with this is that the blood strips can be expensive over time and once you’re in ketosis you start to understand your body a bit more so you won’t keep running back to the monitor.
Keep it straightforward and strict. You usually see better results in people who restrict their carb intake further. Try to keep your carbs as low as possible for the first month of keto. I am allergic to coconut in all forms. I am having real issues getting into ketosis and staying there and have no idea what I am doing wrong. I am looking for anything that will get me into ketosis and keep me there. I love butter tea, but is there another source of MCTs that isn’t coconut based?

IMHO, if the organic, grass-fed whipping cream has no sweetener, then they are the same. If you keep whipping the cream, it will turn into butter. The only downside will be if there is sweetener. Are you blending the whipped cream into the coffee or just putting it on top? You could do both.
In the 1960s, it was discovered that medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) produce more ketone bodies per unit of energy than normal dietary fats (which are mostly long-chain triglycerides).[15] MCTs are more efficiently absorbed and are rapidly transported to the liver via the hepatic portal system rather than the lymphatic system.[16] The severe carbohydrate restrictions of the classic ketogenic diet made it difficult for parents to produce palatable meals that their children would tolerate. In 1971, Peter Huttenlocher devised a ketogenic diet where about 60% of the calories came from the MCT oil, and this allowed more protein and up to three times as much carbohydrate as the classic ketogenic diet. When you eat foods high in carbohydrates and fat, your body naturally produces glucose. Kellyjo, yes, this is instead of “regular” breakfast usually. Some people say it isn’t a great thing to do since it doesn’t involve chewing and that may lead to feeling deprived, somehow. I do love to eat, but I find that I enjoy this kind of coffee and I don’t feel deprived at all. It is so easy and tastes good, too. It is a relief not to have to find breakfast foods every day.
Have you tried ghee? Most people who can’t do dairy CAN do ghee. But if you can’t do ghee, then coconut butter or raw cacao butter will work. Our brain is mostly fat. Our bodies work more efficiently when we are eating lots of healthy fats (and lower carb). I hope that helps.
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders after stroke,[7] and affects at least 50 million people worldwide.[8] It is diagnosed in a person having recurrent unprovoked seizures. These occur when cortical neurons fire excessively, hypersynchronously, or both, leading to temporary disruption of normal brain function. This might affect, for example, the muscles, the senses, consciousness, or a combination. A seizure can be focal (confined to one part of the brain) or generalised (spread widely throughout the brain and leading to a loss of consciousness). Epilepsy may occur for a variety of reasons; some forms have been classified into epileptic syndromes, most of which begin in childhood. Epilepsy is considered refractory (not yielding to treatment) when two or three anticonvulsant drugs have failed to control it. About 60% of patients will achieve control of their epilepsy with the first drug they use, whereas about 30% do not achieve control with drugs. When drugs fail, other options include epilepsy surgery, vagus nerve stimulation and the ketogenic diet.[7]
Benefits: Ground beef (made with 70 percent lean meat and 30 percent fat) is a higher-fat choice — but that’s the point here. You’ll also get an excellent source of vitamin B12, which is necessary to keep energy levels up.
Since carbs are your body’s first choice for energy, the only way to get your body to burn fat for fuel is by getting your body into ketosis. Without stored glucose, your body has no choice but to dip into your fat stores and begin converting those fatty acids to ketones when you need energy (9).
Something that makes the keto diet different from other low-carb diets is that it does not “protein-load.” Protein is not as big a part of the diet as fat is. Reason being: In small amounts, the body can change protein to glucose, which means if you eat too much of it, especially while in the beginning stages of the keto diet, it will slow down your body’s transition into ketosis.

Avoid unhealthy fats like seed oils and vegetable oils, which can become rancid when heated. Unhealthy fats and oils you should avoid on keto include canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil and grapeseed oil. Also avoid reduced-fat or grain-fed dairy products, as they can have added carbs and sugar.
There are a lot of misconceptions about low carb dieting which has caused an infamous outlook on keto. There have been tons of studies published over the last 30 years that show how high amounts of fat and few carbs are beneficial.

While the ketogenic diet has become popular for weight loss, studies have also shown numerous other health benefits of following a keto diet. It may help reverse Type 2 diabetes and reduce symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, depression and autism (3)(4). The keto diet was first used in the 1920s not as a weight loss diet, but a natural treatment to prevent seizures in epilepsy patients (5).
The keto diet has been used for preventing seizures in epileptic patients, especially those who don’t respond well to medication. Green beans are a member of the legume family, but they have significantly fewer carbs than most other legumes. Sometimes green beans referred to as snap beans. One cup of green beans has only 6g net carbs, so they’re a great addition to many side dishes.
Those on a ketogenic diet also report experiencing harsher hangovers compared to when they ate a high carb diet. While there aren’t definitive studies proving why this happens, dehydration and an imbalance of electrolytes seem to play a part. Both dehydration and electrolyte imbalance can occur when you drink alcohol and when you’re in ketosis, creating the perfect storm for intense hangovers.
With that being said, there are of course days that are very hard for me, in particular my days off of work. It seems like every second Im thinking about a carb & sugar filled meal and even as im typing I am craving something that I would normally eat when not following a Keto lifestyle. This is not a normal craving where my taste buds are buzzing or im swallowing just thinking about said food. This craving is pure mental, where I simply remember the taste of a pasta or dessert I ate months ago.

Dorma, u are lactose intolerant cuz im sure u are not taking raw milk, raw butter, etc. If u take them pasteurized, the digestive enzymes that come naturally with milk, are killed so thats why people cannot tolerate milk, cuz the enzymes that God created are not there to digest it.
