Something that makes the keto diet different from other low-carb diets is that it does not “protein-load.” Protein is not as big a part of the diet as fat is. Im into pure keto diet almost a week now but started illiminating sugar and carbs 3weeks ago and the side effects that i’ve encountered are frequently urinating and light headache only. Is it good or not? I’ve never consult a specialist before doing keto diet but i do my research, is it okay? As of now i’ve loose almost 11lbs. Im just curious how can i get the percentage of fats, protein etc in my meals? Do i need to measure it all? How can i measure the percentage of foods that i need to eat?is there any ways?
I have been putting the bone brith collagen in my coffee as I find that it tastes best mixed in coffee. I also just started adding coconut oil and the butter. Due to kidney disease, I am limited in my protein and with diverticulitis, I am limited in my cruciferous veggies, etc. Any recommendations??

To decrease calories, you will have to think about what you need. Most likely, you will need less protein as well. So, keep in mind the portions of sizes of meals. Decrease them as you need to, or see fit.

Net carbs are used because dietary fiber does not have a significant metabolic effect. We are trying to get as accurate of a picture as possible when tracking macros, therefor net carbs is what makes the most sense.

I’ve read a lot on the whole craze of going organic. If you only care about the nutrition, then you do not have to purchase organic vegetables. Though they are proven to be safer for the body (less residue of pesticides and toxins), they contain about the same nutrients as their non-organic counterpart. Don’t be afraid to stock up on vegetables – both frozen and fresh are great to eat!

The ketogenic diet is calculated by a dietitian for each child. Age, weight, activity levels, culture and food preferences all affect the meal plan. Because consuming even up to 30–50 grams of net carbs daily is still dramatically less than what most people eating a “standard Western diet” are used to, many will still experience weight loss eating slightly more carbs.
